About Reiki

Reiki is an ancient energetic healing art is serene and delightfully non-invasive and has, for many, at the very least, opened the door to positive change. As Reiki energy comes from a universal source, there is an element of mystical blessing - that on a much higher plain of existence, guidance and assistance is being given.

There is no scientific understanding of how this modality works, yet thousands of people across the world will testify to the benefits that have been gained in their healing process. Reiki is a completely safe complementary therapy and hence offers many application possibilities, especially to the extremely ill who, often fearing further complications, avoid other holistic therapies. For many people the transformative and healing attributes of Reiki can be absolutely core shifting.

While receiving a Reiki treatment, one generally enjoys a feeling of gentle calm, but this should not discount its immensely potent healing capabilities. People have recited a range of feelings they have encountered while having a treatment; some feel very little, while others may feel quite emotional, and then there have been those who experience intense memories, highlighting where an emotional block may be occurring.

Generally, a Reiki practitioner has studied and participated in a number of initiations using sacred symbols to open and activate a flow of light-filled energy. In a treatment session, the practitioner will act as a channel for divine healing energy to flow through to the healing objective, be it a client, self, animal, plant, or even a thought process.

Reiki healing draws its sublime energy from the source of life and is guided by the higher consciousness of the person receiving the healing, wonderfully empowering the person being healed as they guide the amount and direct the energy on behalf of their own healing.

Of course, this process of activating the higher conscious is completely subconscious - the person being healed is simply enjoying the beautiful healing energy around them. While some healers will place their hands on the client, others will gently hold their hands in the etheric fields or aura of the person receiving healing, and this really is an individual prerogative. In all cases, remember that you will always receive a more beneficial healing the more honest, open to change, and comfortable you feel, so help your practitioner and let them know if you feel uncomfortable in any way.
